May 5, 2014 Week 43

Cinco de Mayo!
So happy cinco de mayo…
I am sad that I won't be in a spanish area for the greatest Mexican holiday, but that is ok I guess!

Well done Joel in getting the priesthood!

This week went by super fast it is crazy.  Transfers are going as fast as weeks now!
Purcell is still pretty cool!
The weather is nicer now so it is easier to run into people that are interested.
All we have to do is ride our bikes and it is pretty easy to start up some conversations with random people.
I guess the Oklahoma City Thunder are doing good, we know this because people don't let us in when they are playing…
Oh well I hope they lose so then we can have some investigators that need something happy in their lives!!
We had a good lesson with the Hoffmans last night.  We watched the conference talk, You Can Do It Now!, and it was awesome!

One of the favorite quotes...

"Satan’s purpose is to tempt us to exchange the priceless pearls of true happiness and eternal values for fake plastic trinket that is merely an illusion and counterfeit of happiness and joy."

The reason this quote is awesome is because the biggest thing that is holding them back from getting baptized is disc golf on Sundays! haha soooo I think that plastic trinkets sounded a little like discs haha, it was awesome we didn't even think about it that way, but it really hit them good!

WE had an investigator go to church yesterday yeah finally!  she is an older lady but has been very interested in what us Mormons believe!  So hopefully she will end up wanting to be baptized!  We taught the law of chastity last week and asked if she was married she said yes... well since she is married to a Hispanic we went into it a little deeper.... well it turns out that she isn't married!  I guess they tried to get married here but they figured out that her husband was married in mexico and was never divorced so the marriage can't go through! ahhhhhh it reminded me of my last area... everyone had that problem even our ward mission leader!  she did say that they are living in separate rooms so we will have to ask President on that one!

Nothing too exciting happened this week but I did have some good studies.

This morning I was studying in Psalms and found some cool ones from chapter 40:
23 The steps of good man are ordered by the Lordand he delighteth in his way.
24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord up holdeth him with his hand.

I found this and love it!  This is the bomb scripture for less actives!  So many times we humans fall, even stumble and don't receive the hand of the savior but nonetheless the Savior has his hand extended for us to grasp whenever we accept it!

Another one that I liked was in the same chapter
39 But the asalvation of the righteous is of the Lordhe is their strength in the time of trouble.
40 And the Lord shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.
The Lord truly is our Savior.   It all comes down….
If we trust in Him and have faith in everything that He has done for us!  He will deliver us from wickedness!

Well that is this week in the nutshell of a nutshell but it was a good solid week, not the best week, but a good week.
I look forward to seeing all of your faces!!
hasta domingo!
